The ELAC is a committee for parents or other community members whose desire is to advocate for English Learners. The major function of the ELAC is to advise the principal and school staff on programs and services for English learners and the School Site Council (SSC) on the development of the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).
What additional tasks must the ELAC perform?
- Assist in the development of the school's needs assessment.
- Assist in the development of the annual Language Census Report.
- Assist in the development of efforts to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
The ELAC has the opportunity to elect at least one member to the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC).
