Contacting Students During The School Day
Instructional time is the most valuable resource available to students and teachers in our pursuit of academic excellence. In order to protect both the quality and quantity of instructional time, we will not interrupt classrooms with phone calls for any reason short of a genuine emergency.
For example:
School staff will not call classrooms to tell students that items have been brought in for them after the start of school (i.e. glasses, backpacks, laptops, lunches, water bottles, sweaters, etc.). If items have been forgotten, parents are free to bring them to the office with the understanding that the student holds the responsibility to come to the office to check for such items without being called and the parent holds the responsibility to notify the teacher via ClassDojo, email or other messaging platform.
School staff will not call classrooms to give students new instructions for getting home or relay changes in pick up arrangements. It is the responsibility of students and parents to make all such arrangements before the school day begins.
Please note, it is a violation of Board Policy for students to have electronic devices operational during the instructional day. In keeping with this policy, parents may not contact students via personal cell phone during the school day. Therefore, it is the responsibility of students and parents to make all such arrangements before the school day begins. Our office staff will email the teacher regarding dropped off items/student messages however we make no guarantee that teachers will read email messages during instructional time.
Picking Up Students Before School Dismissal
The parent or legal guardian picking up the student from school must present a valid photo ID. If a person other than the parent or legal guardian is removing the student from school, the authorized adult must have written permission from the parent or legal guardian AND be listed on the emergency card. The written document must specify the name of the person who is picking up the child from school, the specific date, the purpose, and it must be signed by the parent. Pick up authorizations are also accepted by email at [email protected]
If school staff determines that a student needs to be picked up before school dismissal due to illness, injury, or other unique circumstance, we will attempt to contact the parent or legal guardian first. If we are unable to reach the parent or legal guardian we will proceed to contacting the other adults listed on the student's emergency card. ONLY individuals listed on the student's emergency card will be permitted to pick up the student and they must present a valid photo ID. It is very important that the emergency contact list be accurate. To review and make changes to the contact list, please visit the Aeries Parent Portal.
Donated Goods / Classroom Celebrations
Special day celebrations such as birthdays, must be arranged with the teacher at least 24 hours in advance if you will be dropping off treats/items for the class. Due to health and safety restrictions, we highly recommend treats that are individually pre-packaged upon purchase or non-edible items (i.e. pencils, stickers, fidget toys). Balloons and noise makers are not permitted on campus during school hours and/or school events. Please feel free to contact your child's teacher or the school office for further clarification on these guidelines.
Donated materials and supplies for daily classroom use, health & safety, or special projects are encouraged. Please contact your child's teacher directly to ask what their classroom needs are.
Thank you for your cooperation as we pursue optimal learning for our students.
