Mrs. Wilson - RSP Teacher

Mrs. Wilson

Hello.  I am Mrs. Wilson, the Resource Specialist teacher at Mountain View Elementary School.  I have lived in Riverside for almost 30 years, and graduated from North High School in 1990.  I attended the University of California, Riverside and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 1994 with a double major in Psychology and Political Science.

I always wanted to pursue a profession in education, but worked in other professions for 10 years.  In 2003, my family and I moved to Upstate New York, and I finally had the opportunity to become a substitute teacher.  I worked for the South Colonie School District from 2003-2005.  While subbing in elementary schools, I discovered that I preferred the small group interaction with students in the Special Education setting.  I also felt that working in Special Education was the most rewarding for me.  It was exciting that I could have such a positive impact on students and help them discover their abilities to grow and develop as lifelong learners.

When we returned to California, I enrolled at California Baptist School of Education and earned both a Multiple Subject K-6 credential, as well as an Education Specialist credential for Mild/Moderate Disabilities.  I completed my student teaching at Mountain View in 2011 and was fortunate to be hired the following school year in the 5th/6th grade Special Day Class where I performed my student teaching.  After 4 years in SDC, I became the Resource Specialist teacher, and this is my fourth year in RSP.

When I am not working as a Special Education teacher, I am at the ice rink skating or coaching figure skating, one of my lifelong passions.  I also enjoy spending time with my husband and three children.  I look forward to an exciting and successful year at Mountain View, where all students can achieve success.
